“Provocative Art: Inciting Conversations”
Curated by Lynnette Black, artist, and co-chair of the Conn Gallery committee at Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis.
https://www.plymouth.org/explore/arts/exhibit/
Plymouth is a progressive Christian church with a long social justice history, located near the epicenter of the protests for the brutal killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis policeman.
Currently the Virtual Exhibition, “Provocative Art: Inciting Conversations,” seeks to call attention to the major issues of our day, as well as to be a cultural critique, encouraging us to ask questions and engage in dialog, no matter how uncomfortable.
Unless we are open to be challenged and take responsibility, we will never change and progress as a society.

I Am With You Always, intaglio collage with handmade paper and watercolor.
My intaglio print Miriam was awarded Third Prize. Miriam is the elder sister of Moses and a prophetess, first mentioned in Exodus. To escape genocide, she led the Jews, women and children, singing and dancing across the Red Sea - this was the 1st time music was mentioned in the Bible. The name Miriam is also transliterated as Mariam or Maria (Wikipedia) or Mary. There are several Marys in the Bible, such as Mary the Mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, who was Jesus’ follower and was the first to discover the empty tomb and be a witness to his resurrection. My Miriam piece is a feminist statement, made to honor the many nameless, invisible strong and important every-day women who play a critical role in society and our personal lives.
My piece Wood Nymph was selected for the Traveling Exhibition and received an award in the printmaking category. It is also SOLD.
